Frequently asked

The questions students ask before their first class.

Honest answers, no filler. The eight things new students ask us most often - where to start, how hot the room gets, whether you need to bring anything, and what we do for first-time-yogi nerves. If your question isn't here, call us.

Frequently asked

Eight questions before you walk in.

I've never done yoga in my life. Where do I start?
Sunday 10:30 AM Slow Vinyasa with Maren, or any weekday Yin & Restorative class. Both are slow, fully optional, and the room is filled with practitioners of every experience level. Tell the teacher at the door it's your first time - they'll show you where to put your mat and walk you through anything that's confusing. The first class is on us, mat and props included.
What style of yoga do you actually teach?
Five styles, taught in our deliberately small palette: Slow Vinyasa (heated to 78°), Hot 26 (the classic Bikram-lineage sequence at 95°), Yin & Restorative (unheated, prop-supported floor practice), Prenatal Yoga (unheated, RPYT-certified), and Sound Baths on Friday evenings. We don't try to teach everything - we'd rather every teacher have years of depth in one or two styles.
How many classes per week is typical for a new student?
Two to three. Most students who stick with the practice come twice a week for the first month or two - enough to feel progress, not so much that you burn out or get sore enough to skip the third. Once it's part of your week, three to four is a good sustainable rhythm. We have students who come daily and students who come once a week - both work.
Do you have hot yoga or heated rooms?
Yes to both. Hot 26 runs in a dedicated room heated to 95°F at ~40% humidity for the full 90 minutes - the classic 26-and-2 sequence. Our Slow Vinyasa and Sunrise Flow classes are heated to a warm but humane 78°F. Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, and Sound Bath are all unheated. If 95° sounds intimidating, skip it your first month and start with anything else.
I'm intimidated. I've heard yoga rooms can feel cliquey.
We hear you. Stillpoint was built to be the opposite of that. We don't run advanced-only classes, we don't sell pose-of-the-month merch, and our regulars are working parents, retirees, and post-injury rehab folks alongside teacher trainees. The room you walk into looks like Bend - every body, every age, every size. If anyone makes you feel out of place, we want to know.
Do you offer childcare during classes?
Not on-site - our room is too small for a separate childcare space. But Saturday 4 PM Family Flow is explicitly family-friendly: babies in carriers welcome, no judgment if a toddler wanders through child's pose. We also have a list of three nearby drop-in childcare options if you'd like - call the desk for the current list.
Are mats and props provided, or do I need to bring my own?
Provided. Mats are sanitized after every class. We have bolsters, blocks, blankets, straps, eye pillows, and small towels on the wall - all included, no rental fee. Bring water and wear what's comfortable. If you prefer your own mat, there's a labeled shelf for storing it between visits.
Do you offer discounts for first responders, students, teachers, or seniors?
Yes. Active-duty military, first responders (fire / EMS / police), public-school teachers, and currently-enrolled college students get $149/month unlimited (vs. $189 standard) with valid ID. Seniors 65+ get the same $149/month rate. We don't advertise these - just ask at the desk and bring something that confirms it. No paperwork to fill out.

Still have a question?

Call the studio between classes - Maren or whoever's at the desk will pick up before the third ring. We'd rather answer one more question than have you skip the room.
